Professional Whitening Methods
Professional whitening makes use of high-concentration bleaching gels that are not available over the counter. We offer two different ways to professionally whiten your teeth.
If you want the fastest and most effective results, having your teeth whitening done in-office by a dental professional will be the best option. Dr. Orr will cover your gums and tooth root surfaces with a protective material to ensure the sensitive areas in your mouth are safe. Next she will insert a thin plastic device, called a retractor, in your mouth to hold your lips and cheeks away from your teeth. Once your safety is ensured, she will apply a professional-strength hydrogen peroxide gel onto the surface of your teeth and let that sit for about an hour. The results will be visible immediately!
Take-home whitening is an effective way to brighten your smile, although you will be the one who does all the work. The desired whiteness usually takes a couple of weeks of treatment as well. During your appointment at Gentle Breeze Family Dentistry, we will take a mold of your teeth and create two thin, flexible plastic mouth trays that are custom-made for you alone – one for the top teeth and one for the bottom. When you are ready to whiten your teeth at home, you will fill the trays with whitening gel and apply them over your teeth for about an hour at a time.
Caring for Your Whitened Smile
If you want to make sure your newly whitened teeth stay shiny for a long time, there are some things you can do. Along with your normal brushing, flossing, and routine cleanings at Gentle Breeze Family Dentistry, try to avoid the kinds of foods that have strong staining elements in them. Foods like red wine, tea, and coffee are only a few of the foods guilty of causing your teeth to dull. Avoid smoking, and when you are ready for your next teeth whitening appointment, we’ll be happy to help!Plan Your Visit
