Dental Implant Procedure
A dental implant is a small titanium post that Dr. Orr will surgically place in the jaw. Titanium is biocompatible, which means that will fuse to the jawbone when it heals. Once Dr. Orr places the implant, we’ll let it heal up and bond with the jawbone so that it will act as the anchor for your new crown.
Once the dental implant is sturdy enough, Dr. Orr will place a meticulously crafted dental crown on an abutment, which is then attached to the implant. We take the necessary time needed to ensure your replacement tooth looks and feels just like the rest of your teeth!
Are Dental Implants Painful?
You won’t feel any pain during the procedure itself because the area will be completely numbed. We make sure our patients are comfortable and relaxed while we work. Your mouth may be a little sore after the numbness wears off, but many times the pain can be lessened with the use of over the counter pain medicine. If needed, Dr. Orr can prescribe a stronger dosage of pain medicine. Ultimately, the benefits the dental implant provides will greatly outweigh the mild inconveniences of having them placed in your mouth. Dental implants will keep your smile healthy for years to come!Schedule a Consultation!
